I Fell Off the Wagon But Didn’t Get Run Over by the Tractor Trailer Following Close Behind

This losing weight thing is not for the fainthearted.  Every day is a challenge.  Temptation is lurking around every corner.  Some days the seduction of sugar laden desserts and the enticement of hot steamy pizza is more than a mere mortal can resist.  And so it went, I was bewitched, beguiled, and bewildered by the bag of chocolate hiding in the pantry… you know… the one that never made that initial purge when I started Weight Watchers a month ago.

So yes, I fell off the wagon and landed squarely into the clutches of that ever elusive BINGE!   You know the one, don’t you; The Binge that promises bliss and divine intimacy but walks out on you moments later, only to leave you with overwhelming shame and feelings of defeat.  There have been times in my life that I felt “The Binge” to be my mortal enemy, never really understanding that “The Binge” was nothing more than an internal struggle I had created within myself.

The bad news is that “The Binge” hoodwinked me yet again.  The good news is that I didn’t allow it to overstay its welcome.  It came; I acknowledged a temporary defeat and moved on to victory.  I got up the next day, made healthy food choices, measured everything and tracked it all on my phone app.

Yes, I fell off the wagon, so what!!! That big old tractor trailer that was waiting for me to stumble again never got the chance to run me over.  I may have fallen into that deceptive pothole but I didn’t get run over.  Color me still “Under Construction”.
