Stretching the Truth

Stretching the Truth

I have come to the realization that we see what we want to see and believe what we want to believe. Case in point… how much we weigh. I don’t own a scale so I have always estimated how much I weigh by the size pants I fit into.   Back in the day this system worked just fine. Today… well, not so much. The current style of slacks and pants contain a significant amount of stretch; the fit is great but their obscurity comes at a great price. After awhile, even my fashionable stretch pants were getting a little snug.

I recently joined weight watchers; when I stepped on the scale, I was shocked to discover I had gained almost 20 pounds. I knew I had put on some extra weight but not that much weight! Unbelievable… I was wearing the same size pants and had gained so much!   It turns out that perhaps the comfort of stretch pants is a little too comfortable… my complacency was stretched far beyond my reality!
